Areas of expertise: history and philosophy of science, especially history and
philosophy of logic and mathematics, history of University philosophy in Russia,
philosophy of politics.
Dr., Prof. V.A.Bazhanov was born on January, 10 1953 in Kazan, Russia.
He received his Kandidature (PhD) from Leningrad University (1979), and was
awarded the degree of Dr. Sci. in Philosophy from Institute of Philosophy of the
Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Moscow) in 1988. He has been on the faculty
of Philosophy at Kazan State University since 1979 until 1993. He has been the
Senior Research member at the Institute of Philosophy (Moscow) in 1987-88.
Since 1993 he is at Ulyanovsk branch of Moscow State University (Ulyanovsk-
Simbirsk University), Department of Philosophy Chairperson, The Dean of the
Humanities (1993 - October, 1995), researcher at Baltic Federal
University (Kantian Rationality Lab) .
Prize winner: Academy of Sciences of the USSR prize for young researchers
(1985), Kazan University First prize (1989). International Science Foundation
winner (1994), British Academy Fellow (1998), Lakatos Research Fellowship
(2007-2008).
In 2002 Bazhanov was elected corresponding member and in 2009 full member
of  Academie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences (Bruxelles) .
Dr. Bazhanov is an Associate Editor of THE REVIEW OF MODERN LOGIC
(former MODERN LOGIC) since its founding in 1989, an Associate Editor
of PROBLEMS OF PHILOSOPHY, EPISTEMOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY OF
SCIENCE , PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNICS , an Associate Editor
of REFLEXIVE PROCESSES AND GOVERNING, Kant Studies .
Dr. Bazhanov major works include a biography of a logician N.A.Vasiliev
(Moscow, Nauka, 1988), and the books on philosophy of science, "The
